You've probably heard loads about all the benefits that Pilates can offer for your fitness, health, posture, overall wellbeing, back pain ect etc, blah, blah, BLAH...
BUT - we all know that everything has a catch, so how often should you practice Pilates to actually gain all these benefits? And how many lessons should you take? The answer might surprise you...
Joseph Pilates himself claimed... "In ten sessions you'll feel the difference, in twenty you'll see the difference, and in thirty you'll have a whole new body"
And for many people (in my experience) this rings true... but as with all exercise/fitness related regimes, consistency is KEY
A weekly Pilates session is a great addition to your workout schedule for those already active, but for those chasing the array of benefits linked to Pilates specifically, practicing 2-3 times a week is what you should aim for. But this doesn't have to mean spending hours on the mat... Turning again to the man himself, Joseph Pilates tells us...
"Make up your mind that you will perform your Contrology [Pilates] exercises ten minutes without fail.... once you travel on this Contrology "Road to Health" you will subconsciously lengthen your trips on it from ten to twenty minutes or more before you even realise it"
Pilates is ALWAYS about promoting the efficiency of the exercises above endless repetition and lengthy workouts for the sake of it. Those who have tried Pilates will concur - even the beginner exercises are pretty tough! To perform these with good technique does take practice and this practice can be done in smaller bouts over time.
This is why every Pilates course with The Posture Practice comes with complementary access to our online workout Portal which contains at-home Pilates workouts for you to do on demand, with a range of lengths from short 10-15 minute workouts, to longer, more full length classes.
Schedule your private sessions for once a week (or maybe even once a fortnight or less if you are a more advanced practitioner and familiar with the techniques of Pilates) then in between time, use the Portal to access your on demand workouts and continue your practice at home. A cost-effective way to build up your Pilates practice and receive all of the amazing benefits that it has to offer! #Pilates #Contrology #JosephPilates #PilatesQuotes #ReturnToLife #PilatesPractice #PracticeMakesPerfect #PilatesInstructor #ThePosturePractice #MatPilates #ConsistencyIsKey
